THE SHUT UP MAN

'LA'

eBoy 9th May - 30th June 2008

eBoy, the innovative and seminal pixel art pioneers are exhibiting at Concrete Hermit in May. eBoy is a pixel art group founded in 1998 by Steffen Sauerteig, Svend Smital and Kai Vermehr. From their Berlin studio they create re-usable pixel objects and take them to build complex and extensible artwork. Their work makes intense use of popular culture and commercial icons, and their style is presented in three-dimensional illustrations filled with robots, cars, guns and girls. Their unique style has gained them a cult following among graphic designers worldwide, and they have worked with among others, named brands and companies such as Coca-Cola, MTV, VH1, Adidas, and Honda. They were also involved in creating the album cover for Groove Armada’s 2007 studio album Soundboy Rock.

Entire cityscapes, rich in detail have been created for London, New York, Berlin, Tokyo and this exhibition sees the latest city to get the eBoy unique visionary panoramic treatment: Los Angeles.

There will also be a chance to see the development of the Peecols – eBoy’s series of toys. These innovative toys have become highly collectable, and there will be the rare opportunity to see the Blockbob prototypes and special limited editions of the figures. Exclusive eBoy prints, t-shirts and products will be available at the exhibition.

Pop Idle

Jon Burgerman 4th - 30th April 2008

Jon launches new work, including large sculptural pieces, at Concrete Hermit Gallery.  Following recent exhibitions for Singapore Design Week 07, ROJO Artspace Barcelona and Milan Jon returns to the UK with the solo show ‘Pop Idle’ at the Concrete Hermit Gallery, London from 4th April.

Jon Burgerman is well known for his unique and colourful artwork – both commercial and personal projects have seen Jon’s ‘doodles’ on everything from scraps of paper to ice-cream vans. The exhibition will see new work produced for the gallery including large sculptural pieces as well as prints and original pieces. The work featured will offer visitors a chance to worship and share private prayers with the idle Idols. Redemption, salvation and salivation are all promised.

The show will also see the UK launch of his new 160 page monograph book entitled Gribba Grub published by Rojo.

A collection of exhibition items are available from our store.

ABOUT

Nibwax is a project designed to bring together and showcase the work of international artists and illustrators. It is intended to be a not for profit venture that promotes and exposes work of originality and interest. Formats for the project may vary from web, print and other media in order to best explore and present certain areas of practice.

Submissions are accepted from anyone, although there will be an editing process to insure the quality and suitability of the work. Guest editors will avoid the temptation to form cliques and keep the project fresh

Some issues will involve a brief around a certain theme, others will explore a cretain media and some will be put together in a way we haven’t thought of yet.

SIZE INFORMATION

All our T-shirts are made from pre-shrunk 100% cotton
Our shirts are printed on American Apparel stock. As they say:

“Our clothes are cut for a youthful shape. Most of our garments fit a little snug to flatter almost any body type. If you’re not sure what size to get or if you’re in-between sizes, please order the next size larger.”

MEN
Chest sizes are as follows:
Small 34-36 ins
Medium 38-40 ins
Large 42-44 ins

WOMEN
Chest sizes are as follows:
Small 30-32 ins - roughly size 10
Medium 32-34 ins - roughly size 12
Large 36-38 ins - roughly size 14

It’s a bit more tricky to accurately size ladies shirts as there are more squishy bits to consider. If you get a shirt that doesn’t fit, send it back and we’ll send you one that does, or refund you.
Obviously colours may vary slightly from what you see on your monitor.

About Concrete Hermit

“Punk is an attitude not an aesthetic”

Since 2004 Concrete Hermit has worked with selected artists, building its reputation by producing a range of graphically lead products including books, T-shirts and badges.

We decided to create a platform that promoted interesting work fairly and with respect for both the artist and the buyer. We enjoy working with diverse groups of people to produce good, interesting, unusual stuff. We try not to be lead by fashions or markets, although we are making products for consumers - we’re putting creations out there to be consumed.

We’re no longer sure what real is but we’ll do our best to keep it real - We are post-neo-old-skool.
